Position Overview
The Deputy Director – Planning is responsible for managing inventory planning, supporting business growth, and leading a high-performing team. This role requires close collaboration with Category, Business Finance, and Central Demand Management (CDM) teams to drive key merchandising and strategic decisions that directly influence the category P&L. The ideal candidate will manage critical stakeholder communication, oversee financial and assortment planning, and drive cross-functional strategic initiatives to optimize business processes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Planning
- Merchandise & Assortment Planning: Develop and execute the Merchandise Financial Plan (MFP) and Assortment Plan to drive critical buying decisions.
- Opend-to-Buy (OTB) Management: Over see Open-to-Buy and detailed sales planning for the category.
- Monthly Alignment: Lead the monthly planning process to continuously realign sales and intake plans with business goals.
Business Optimization & Execution
- Assortment Health Monitoring: Monitor assortment health across key matrices and implement necessary corrections to maximize customer conversions.
- P&L and Strategy Impact: Drive strategic initiatives for the category that influence the overall P&L.
- Cross-Functional Projects: Lead strategic projects within cross-functional teams to improve and streamline core business processes.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and manage a team of 3–4 members.
- Stakeholder Communication: Manage high-level communication and build alignment with critical business stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in category planning within an online or offline retail business.
- Education: MBA or NIFT graduate from a Tier-1 or Tier-2 business school.
- Leadership History: Proven experience managing a team of 3–4 members.
