The Associate Director / Deputy Director – Division of Innovation & Entrepreneurship will play a strategic leadership role in building and strengthening the University's innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting a culture of innovation, supporting startup creation, fostering industry-academia collaboration, and driving commercialization of research. The role requires close collaboration with students, faculty, industry leaders, investors, government agencies, and entrepreneurial networks to position the University as a hub for innovation and startup excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning: Provide strategic direction for the University's innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives by developing long-term plans aligned with institutional goals. Identify emerging trends and recommend new initiatives to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
- Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development: Lead initiatives that inspire students and faculty to develop innovative ideas and entrepreneurial ventures. Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration to solve real-world challenges through innovation.
- Startup Incubation & Venture Development: Support entrepreneurs throughout their startup journey from ideation to business growth. Facilitate access to seed funding, angel investors, venture capitalists, and government grants.
- Industry & Ecosystem Partnerships: Strengthen collaboration between the University and external stakeholders to create meaningful innovation opportunities. Collaborate with government bodies and startup ecosystem partners for joint initiatives.
- Research Commercialization & Intellectual Property: Promote the conversion of research outcomes into commercially viable products and services.
- Program & Event Management: Organize startup summits, hackathons, innovation challenges, boot camps, and entrepreneurship conclaves.
- Funding & Resource Mobilization: Explore funding opportunities through government agencies, CSR initiatives, and industry collaborations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Connect academic/research teams with industry players to facilitate sponsored research and joint ventures.
- Incubator Operations: Oversee the physical and digital infrastructure of the Innovation Center, Maker Labs.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Startup Ecosystem, Incubation, Research Commercialization, or Academic Leadership.
- Experience in Universities, Higher Education Institutions, Incubation Centres, Innovation Hubs, or Start-up Accelerators is highly preferred.
- Master's Degree in Management, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Technology, or a related discipline.
