Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Warrior Community Activity Center (WZCAC), ensuring that the WZ CAC complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities Represents 773'd Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations Develops and executes, through assigned staff, programs which support singles, families, and special groups such as service members, spouses, and private organizations Closely monitors and prepares projections and adjustments to the APF and NAF budgets
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for series 0188. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a very wide range of the principles, concepts and techniques of recreation such as would be gained through extensive experience in planning and coordinating recreation programs, which enables the employee to plan and conduct a large atypical community activities plan. Knowledge of the range of activities and services and of participant interests and needs typical of a community activities program which enables the employee to develop and conduct a very large and diversified program in this specialty area. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Major study -- general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience as described, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a variety of morale, welfare, and recreation programs. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of general business practices sufficient to operate a budget and make recommendations. 4. Skill in writing and developing publicity promotions in an effort to gain interest in available programs. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 7. Ability to develop solutions to problems and make sound recommendations to higher level officials. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
