Policy Adviser (Domestic Energy Markets) Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is a ministerial department, supported by 41 agencies and public bodies. We are responsible for business, industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy, and climate change. We are looking for a talented Policy Adviser to join our Domestic Energy Markets Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of energy policy that supports the UK's transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions. As a Policy Adviser, you will: - Contribute to the development and delivery of policy to support the transformation of the UK's domestic energy market, including policies to encourage greater energy efficiency, decarbonisation of heating, and consumer protection. - Represent BEIS and contribute to cross-government discussions on domestic energy markets. - Engage with a range of stakeholders, including industry, consumer groups, and other government departments, to understand their perspectives and interests. - Provide policy advice and briefing to senior officials and ministers. - Contribute to the team's wider work on energy policy and the net zero transition. The successful candidate will have: - Strong policy development and analysis skills, with the ability to rapidly assimilate and synthesise complex information. - Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. - An understanding of the UK energy sector and the policy and regulatory landscape. - Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
