Grounds Maintenance Assistant

Position Type/Hours:

Seasonal / Part-time non-exempt position: *Hours vary based on weather, season, and business needs (typically weekdays; occasional flexibility as needed). 

 

 

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the facility grounds, including routine exterior maintenance and safe, clean site conditions.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, weed whacking/string trimming, edging, weeding, and general grounds cleanliness (litter/debris pickup).
  • Maintain sidewalks/entryways and support safe exterior conditions; perform seasonal tasks such as clearing snow from sidewalks and spreading ice melt as needed.
  • Identify, report, and help mitigate hazardous conditions on surrounding grounds (e.g., trip hazards, unsafe conditions).
  • Operate and care for lawn/ground equipment and tools; ensure equipment is in good working order and request service or replacement as needed.
  • Maintain basic records/logs of work completed and/or service/repair needs, as assigned.
  • Follow safety practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in customer service or administrative setting 
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of personal protective equipment. 
  • Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle tools, and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb/balance. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, depending on tasks assigned.
 

 Salary Range:
 $17.00 - $24.00 / Hour
