Unit Description:
Shenandoah National Park offers over 200,000 acres of protected lands with lots to explore including cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, and quiet wooded hollows. It’s a great place to hike, camp, bike, fish, take photographs or go canoeing. We offer on-site housing and a free meal during every shift.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and acknowledge guests, answer guests' questions, and assist whenever possible, as well as process returns, with the approval of the supervisor
- Processes sales with the appropriate point of sale system, accepts payment, counts change, and bags merchandise
- Maintains a clean and organized store or stand with orderly back-stock
- Ensure all merchandise is correctly labeled and displayed, notifying the General Manager of defective, mis-marked, mislabeled, incorrectly priced, or damaged merchandise
- Clean showers, bathrooms, and laundry room
- Stack and/or move wood
- Watches for and recognizes security risks and thefts, and reports to security and management
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize public areas, guest rooms, and restrooms; empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal area; replenish supplies
- Housekeeping duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- No high school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in cash handling and operating point-of-sale systems required
- Previous experience in retail or customer service environment preferred
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills with the ability to accurately handle money and count change
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs and stand for entire length of shift
- Ability to bending, reach, walk up and down stairs, and climb on step stool frequently
