Duties
Install various types of systems to perform heating, cooling, humidifying, and dehumidifying functions within an organization.,Read instructions such as blue prints and sketches to determine how to safely complete repairs.,Troubleshoot plumbing for leaks by applying prescribed testing procedures and equipment.,Prepare surfaces for paint application.,Operate vehicles such as pickup trucks, flat-bed truck, dump truck, and low boy to transport materials.,Determine and install wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices in the size, type, and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical systems.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance tasks such as replacing electrical fixtures and controls, installing flooring and fixtures, and fitting pipes for plumbing fixtures. I can apply paint and wall materials, and make repairs to ventilation equipment with instructions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 40 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, Making couplings between vehicle and towed equipment requires moderate physical effort in that heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., must be lifted and properly secured. Requirements for standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works in stretched, cramped and awkward positions. Considerable standing while working on ladders or scaffolds, concrete floors, and climbing stairways. Frequently subjected to sudden temperature changes when working with freezer units. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Comes in contact with running motors, pumps, and machinery. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from accidents. Subject to possible injury from vehicle accident. Works in cramped quarters inside and outside; exposed to mud and water; dirty, dusty and greasy conditions and injury from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead. The incumbent is provided the appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and its use is mandatory. All established safety procedures must be observed.
