The Dean / HoD – Development Studies will provide academic, strategic, and administrative leadership to the school. The role involves strengthening the school’s academic offerings, enhancing research output, building partnerships, and positioning the school as a leader in development discourse at national and global levels.
Academic Leadership
- Lead curriculum design, development, and continuous improvement aligned with global standards.
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.
- Introduce interdisciplinary and practice-oriented programs in development studies.
Research & Thought Leadership
- Drive high-impact research in areas such as public policy, sustainability, livelihoods, health systems, and social development.
- Publish in reputed journals and contribute to policy dialogues.
- Lead funded research projects and consultancy assignments.
Institution Building
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the department.
- Build national and international collaborations with universities, think tanks, NGOs, and multilateral agencies.
- Enhance the department’s visibility and rankings.
Faculty Management
- Recruit, mentor, and develop high-quality faculty.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
- Encourage faculty research, publications, and consulting.
Student Engagement & Outcomes
- Ensure strong student learning experience and career outcomes.
- Promote field-based learning, internships, and industry exposure.
- Guide student research and dissertations.
Industry & Policy Interface
- Build relationships with government bodies, NGOs, CSR arms, and international development agencies.
- Facilitate consulting assignments, executive education and training programs.
Administration
- Oversee departmental operations, budgets, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to academic and regulatory standards.
Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, or related disciplines.
Required Skills:
- Strong academic credentials with global exposure.
- Demonstrated leadership in institution building.
- Experience working with development sector stakeholders (Govt., NGOs, multilaterals).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive innovation and interdisciplinary programs.
RequiredExperience:
- Minimum 20 years of academic/research/industry experience
- At least 5 years in a leadership role (Dean / HoD / Senior Professor)
- Strong track record of publications and funded research
