Job Duties include the duties for level 1 and 2 MAP Coordinator plus additional Leadership responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned:
Level 1
- Serves as liaison between patients and physicians' offices regarding medication assistance programs.
- Oversees completion of enrollment forms and follows up on medications requests.
- Maintain EMR data and medication lists related to MAP
- Ensures that approved patients are re-enrolled as appropriate
- Maintains accounts for MAP patients enrolled in foundations, including billing foundation on their behalf as indicated.
- Maintains understanding of the manufacturer’s drug programs and foundations available to qualified MAP clients.
- Keeps current on health-related community agencies/resources to refer MAP patients and families as needed.
- Assists in development and implementation of marketing plans for the promotion of MAP to clients, hospital staff and community.
- Represents the Pharmacy Department and Deaconess in appropriate and related community agency activities.
- Participates in Department meetings, in-services, and conferences.
- Participates in quality improvement activities related to Pharmacy or Hospital as appropriate.
- Presents a professional appearance and promotes a positive image of Deaconess Health System Pharmacy.
- Adheres to the Pharmacy Department and hospital policies and procedures; including Corporate Compliance.
- Assumes responsibilities for other Pharmacy Department activities when necessary following appropriate orientation.
Level 2
- Must be full time
- Designated trainer for new staff
- Implement at least 2 process improvement ideas per quarter
- Assists in training of office staff and other personnel regarding MAP.
- With the Lead MAP Tech, assists in data collection and outcome evaluation for MAP.
- Developing the workload assignment calendar.
- Other duties as assigned by pharmacy supervisor or lead tech.
Leadership responsibilities/competencies
- Models expected behavior for staff.
- Communicates with patients for issue resolution as needed.
- Assists Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager and Supervisor with budget and other financial activities related to MAP.
- Effectively addresses performance management topics (coaching, appraisals, competency, rewards, development & discipline).
- Serves as a working advisor for management issues and staffs as necessary to meet the needs of the department.
- Provides direction and training to staff.
- Conduct random audits on all staff for accuracy and appropriateness with findings reported to the pharmacy supervisor.
- Completion of monthly statistics and dashboard.
- Coordinates staffing and delegates work assignments appropriately.
- Prepares work schedules as appropriate.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
- Assists the manager and supervisor in operational planning, automation and IT technology, clinical and business reporting, and advertising/growth of the service.
