About the role:
Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Chemistry/Physics Instructor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education, skilled at engaging students with diverse learning styles, and committed to fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and academic growth. This role involves teaching both chemistry and physics courses, developing hands-on laboratory experiences, and supporting students in mastering foundational and advanced scientific concepts.
Skills and experience that matter for this role:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid PA teaching certification in 7-12 grade Chemistry and Physics (or ability to obtain)
- Strong content knowledge in both chemistry and physics
- Experience teaching at the high school level preferred
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Experience with inquiry-based and project-based learning
- Familiarity with modern laboratory technology and safety protocols
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction
- Interest in advising science clubs, competitions, or extracurricular activities
Physical Capabilities:
- Ability to perform standard classroom duties which may involve walking, standing, sitting,
bending, and reaching - Ability to meet the physical and emotional demands of supporting students with diverse
needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in chemistry and physics aligned with state and school standards
- Design and supervise laboratory experiments, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment
- Assess student progress through tests, projects, and assignments, and provide timely feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of varied learners
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
Salary:
- This position offers a starting salary of $59,000 per year, with final compensation determined by experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
- This role starts at the beginning of the 26/27 in August 2026.
