About Position
We are seeking a Database Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in Progress databases to manage and support production database environments. The role focuses on performance tuning, database monitoring, backup and recovery, and ensuring system stability in a 24/7 support environment. The ideal candidate will have solid database fundamentals, experience with Linux systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues while maintaining high operational standards.

What You'll Do
- Monitor database and system performance and assist with performance tuning
- Perform routine DBA activities including health checks, space/user management, and monitoring
- Respond to database alerts, incidents, and customer support tickets within SLAs
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement preventive actions under guidance
- Support database backup and recovery operations and validate backups regularly
- Participate in change management, testing, and deployment validation
- Create and update SOPs, runbooks, and operational documentation
- Contribute to automation using Bash/Python scripting for repetitive tasks
- Coordinate with customers, peers, and senior DBAs for timely updates and resolutions
- Participate in 24×7 rotational support, go-lives, and critical operations
Expertise You'll Bring
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience with Progress databases (mandatory)
- Working knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL and AWS RDS
- Strong understanding of Linux OS; basic Windows knowledge is a plus
- Solid SQL fundamentals and database administration concepts
- Basic to intermediate Bash scripting skills; exposure to Python is beneficial
- Understanding of ITIL processes, incident, and change management
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in production support environments
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra experience
