Job Description
We’re seeking Database Administrator (DBA) to support and enhance our SQL Server database and AWS environments, ensuring high performance, availability, and security across production and lower environments.
This is a hands-on, high‐impact role for someone who enjoys managing large databases, solving complex data problems, modernizing legacy platforms, and partnering closely with engineering, DevOps, and analytics teams, supporting core processes that keep our data operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day‐to‐day administration of SQL Server 2019+ environments, ensuring performance, availability, scalability, and security.
- Design and maintain scalable cloud-based architectures on AWS, including mySQL RDS, Aurora Postgres and DynamoDB.
- Perform core DBA tasks, including database backups, environment refreshes, data de‐identification, Always On availability, index and statistics maintenance and drive space management.
- Proactively tune and optimize database performance through query analysis, indexing strategies, execution plan review, profiling, and continuous monitoring.
- Architect and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions (multi‐AZ, replication, automated backups, point‐in‐time recovery, and failover testing).
- Implement automation using tools such as SQL Jobs, PowerShell scripting, Terraform and CloudFormation to increase reliability and reduce manual effort.
- Build, enhance, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to support analytics and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, blocking, or failed jobs using SQL queries and monitoring tools.
- Participate in on-call via PagerDuty and respond to database alerts and incidents.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth data operations across environments
- Participate in release management to perform database deployments and production changes.
- Contribute to process improvement and optimization of database administration practices.
- Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server (administration, performance tuning, optimization).
- Experience supporting AWS database technologies (RDS, Postgres, DynamoDB).
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as Idera and Red-gGate
- Ability to work in on-call rotation and manage critical Production incidents
- Proficiency in SQL development, including complex Stored Procedures and Performance troubleshooting
- Functional knowledge of ETL tools and processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts
- Experience performing Production deployments and active participation in release management process.
Shift Timing:
2:30PM to 11:30PM IST
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Bedrock, OpenSearch, Glue and Lambda.
- Knowledge of data modelling, schema design, and enterprise data architecture principles.
- Exposure to automation, DevOps for databases, or Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
- Familiarity with NoSQL, caching technologies, or event-driven architectures
- Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, insurance, financial services)
