Job Summary
The Standard India is seeking a
Data Scientist to join the AI Delivery team in the successful development and implementation of data science and applied machine learning solutions that power AI-driven workflow products at The Standard India.
You will be part of an innovative team responsible for designing, building, and scaling applied AI systems that augment business processes and empower employees. As a Staff-level technical leader, you will define modeling strategy, architectural patterns, and reusable frameworks that enable multiple teams to build and deploy AI systems successfully. You will collaborate closely with Data Scientists, AI / ML Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, and business leaders to translate complex business problems into highly performant AI solutions.
Staying current with the evolving AI landscape, you will leverage the latest technologies to support cutting-edge
innovation across our proprietary AI products. You will ultimately develop an information advantage through AI systems and capability capabilities, while working to develop the team’s reputation as highly skilled experts in data science. Along the way, you will partner closely across teams to scale adoption of AI products and establish industry best practices for building, evaluating, and evolving AI empowered products.
This is a highly visible role that requires deep expertise in applied AI and ML systems, strong ownership mentality, and the ability to operate effectively across engineering, product, and business domains. - Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.
Mode of Working: This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.
Skills And Background You’ll Need
- EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related). A Master’s degree is preferred.
- EXPERIENCE: 3–7 years of experience delivering AI and machine learning solutions with measurable business impact. Experience in regulated industries (financial services, insurance, healthcare) is a plus.
- Strong technical command of the tools and languages used to deliver high impact AI/ML solutions into production (Python, PyTorch, Spark, Azure, ADO Pipelines, PowerShell, Kubernetes, Databricks jobs, MLFlow).
- Successfully led the delivery of multiple stable releases in ML and AI domain.
- Solid understanding of machine learning and AI techniques, including classification models, neural networks, NLP, LLMs, RAG architectures, and fine-tuning approaches, and how to apply them effectively to targeted use cases.
- A curious and inquisitive mindset, with the ability to ideate and drive improvements that simplify, modernize, and standardize model architectures and approaches. Experience with MLOps best practices is preferred.
- Unstructured data storage, search, and retrieval (text and images) knowledge is preferred.
- Familiarity with unstructured data systems, search, and retrieval (text and image) is preferred.
- Experience mentoring or supporting other technical team members through collaboration, design discussions, and code reviews, while maintaining a strong individual contributor focus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, product partners, and leadership.
- Comfort operating with autonomy and accountability in ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces.
