Workforce Optimization – Data Scientist
Shape workforce planning strategy through advanced forecasting, capacity planning, and
optimization modeling. You will design scalable models for complex contact center
staffing—including inbound and blended multi-channel environments—balancing operational
cost against service goals. The role demands strong operations research expertise and Python
proficiency to automate data pipelines and integrate third-party optimization libraries.
Responsibilities
Build long-term forecasting models to guide hiring, budget allocation, and workforce
planning, incorporating skill-based and operational constraints.
Manage projects end-to-end and partner with leadership to align staffing models with
business objectives, seasonal demand, and new initiatives.
Identify efficiency opportunities by modeling alternative scenarios and quantifying
trade-offs (e.g., additional headcount vs. overtime).
Translate operational requirements into mathematical optimization models, including
multi-skill staffing problems.
Run ad-hoc analyses using Python, R, or SQL, and apply solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX,
or open-source alternatives.
Lead research to advance workforce planning methodology, including Python automation
for forecasting and optimization workflows (data extraction, transformation, model
execution) and optimization of blended inbound/outbound staffing.
Required Qualifications
3+ years in data science, operations research, or a related quantitative role; or graduate
coursework in supply chain, statistics, industrial engineering, or management science.
Strong command of statistical modeling and optimization techniques applied to contact
center planning and resource allocation.
Proven track record managing end-to-end project lifecycles in cross-functional
environments.
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and comfort working through ambiguity.
Proficiency in Python or R, plus strong SQL and Excel skills.
Working knowledge of workforce management platforms (Genesys, NICE, or Aspect).
Nice to have: Tableau or Power BI.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (MS or MBA) in a quantitative or business field (engineering, statistics,
supply chain, management science).
Experience with long-term forecasting, workforce analytics, or capacity planning in
healthcare.
Familiarity with AI/ML applications in workforce optimization.
