About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst/Data Scientist to join our team on a short-term contract basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SQL, data modeling, and product data analysis. Your primary responsibility will be to design and define the data infrastructure for our product teams, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and usability of data artifacts. This role requires a keen eye for data quality issues, the ability to debug complex data problems, and the skill to communicate technical concepts effectively.
In this position, you will work closely with our data engineering and product teams to create realistic data schemas, develop SQL queries, and establish event taxonomies. Your expertise will help us build a robust AI benchmark by providing authentic data artifacts and ensuring the integrity of data systems. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the data infrastructure of a forward-thinking company and contribute directly to innovative AI projects.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics or data science roles.
- Proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), and window functions.
- Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling, including fact and dimension tables.
- Hands-on experience with product event data collection and analysis, particularly with platforms like Segment, Amplitude, or Mixpanel.
- Experience working with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses.
- Knowledge of data quality challenges and strategies for remediation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities for this role include:
- Designing and defining the data infrastructure necessary for product analytics, including schema creation and event tracking frameworks.
- Developing and reviewing SQL queries to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
- Building and maintaining realistic BigQuery schemas that reflect actual product data environments.
- Identifying, debugging, and resolving data quality issues within the data pipeline.
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency across dashboards and reports.
- Documenting data schemas, event taxonomies, and metric definitions for clarity and future reference.
- Explaining data discrepancies and differences between dashboards to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and understanding.
- Contributing to the development of an AI benchmark by providing high-quality, realistic data artifacts.
