About The Company
Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world’s leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced Software Engineers (SWE Bench – Data Engineer / Data Science) to join our team in a dynamic, project-driven environment. This role is pivotal in supporting benchmark-driven evaluation projects that focus on real-world data engineering and data science workflows. The successful candidate will work hands-on with production-like datasets, developing and maintaining data pipelines, performing data analysis, and supporting model evaluation tasks to enhance the performance and reliability of advanced AI systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with top-tier researchers and engineers, contributing to cutting-edge AI innovations and benchmarks.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer with a focus on data workflows. They should possess strong proficiency in Python, with demonstrable experience in data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows. A solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and the ability to work with both structured and unstructured data are essential. Candidates must be comfortable navigating complex, real-world codebases and writing clean, reusable, and well-documented code. Excellent problem-solving skills, coupled with strong communication abilities in English, are required to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
- Work with structured and unstructured datasets to support SWE Bench-style evaluation tasks, ensuring data quality and relevance.
- Design, develop, and validate data pipelines used in benchmarking, evaluation, and research workflows.
- Perform comprehensive data processing, analysis, feature engineering, and validation for various data science applications.
- Write, execute, and refine Python scripts to process data and support experimental workflows locally.
- Assess data quality, transformations, and outputs to ensure correctness, reproducibility, and consistency across projects.
- Develop clean, well-documented, and reusable data workflows that can be integrated into benchmarking frameworks.
- Participate actively in code reviews to uphold high standards of code quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineering teams to design challenging, real-world data engineering and data science tasks that push the boundaries of AI system evaluation.
Benefits
Joining Turing as a freelancer offers flexible, remote work opportunities with the chance to contribute to pioneering AI projects.
