About the Role
We're looking for a Data Science Intern to help build and refine the ML models that power ELIX's intelligence layer. You'll work on real problems from day one — training models, improving classification systems, and making our AI smarter at understanding financial behavior. You'll collaborate directly with the founding team and have real ownership over your work.
Responsibilities
- Build, train, and iterate on ML models and classification algorithms
- Develop and improve pattern recognition systems that power ELIX's AI
- Evaluate model performance and run experiments to improve accuracy
- Work with large datasets to extract meaningful insights and features
- Collaborate with the product and engineering team to ship model improvements
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong foundation in Python and statistics
- Hands-on experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, and TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Understanding of core ML concepts — supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, feature engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Experience working with financial or transactional data
- Familiarity with NLP or text classification techniques
- Prior internship or project experience in data science or ML
- Interest in fintech, behavioral science, or AI applications in personal finance
