Role Overview
As a Data Privacy Consultant, you will work with organizations to establish and strengthen their privacy compliance programs. You will assist clients in understanding regulatory requirements, assessing privacy risks, implementing governance frameworks, and embedding privacy best practices into business operations.
The role requires a combination of analytical thinking, regulatory knowledge, cybersecurity awareness, and strong communication skills to deliver practical privacy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess organizational data processing activities and identify privacy risks.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
- Develop and maintain Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and data inventories.
- Review and implement privacy governance frameworks aligned with global regulations.
- Prepare and review privacy policies, procedures, notices, and supporting documentation.
- Assist organizations in implementing Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles.
- Support data subject rights management processes and privacy request handling.
- Evaluate third-party privacy risks and review vendor compliance.
- Participate in privacy audits, compliance reviews, and remediation activities.
- Support incident response and personal data breach assessment processes.
- Collaborate with business, legal, technology, and security teams to implement privacy controls.
- Prepare executive reports, compliance dashboards, and client presentations.
- Stay current with evolving global privacy laws, industry standards, and regulatory developments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of privacy principles and data protection concepts.
- Knowledge of one or more global privacy regulations such as GDPR, DPDPA, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with information security standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, SOC 2, or NIST frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments.
- Strong problem-solving and consulting mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms.
- Experience in privacy assessments, compliance audits, or risk management.
- Familiarity with cloud security, identity management, or data governance concepts.
- Knowledge of privacy engineering or secure software development practices is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP, ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer, or ISO/IEC 27701 are desirable.
