Company Description Buffindia is India’s first end-to-end solution dedicated to cigarette waste management, focused on creating a cigarette waste litter–free India. The initiative aims to collect and recycle more than 100 billion cigarette butts discarded into the environment every year. Buffindia’s model combines segregation at source, tech-enabled education, and awareness programs to change disposal behaviors at scale. Collected cigarette waste is processed through eco-friendly recycling methods and transformed into upcycled outdoor utility products. Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Data Manager at Buffindia. The Data Manager will oversee the collection, validation, storage, and maintenance of operational and impact-related data across the cigarette waste management lifecycle. Responsibilities include designing and managing databases, developing data quality standards, and ensuring accurate, timely reporting on collection volumes, recycling outputs, and program performance. The role will work closely with operations, product, and outreach teams to provide data insights that inform decision-making, optimize processes, and support impact measurement and external reporting. The Data Manager will also contribute to creating dashboards, automating data workflows where possible, and ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong data management and analysis skills, including experience with databases, spreadsheets, and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, BI platforms).
- Ability to design and maintain data pipelines and workflows, including data collection, cleaning, validation, and documentation.
- Proficiency in basic statistical analysis and reporting to support performance tracking and impact measurement.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy, consistency, and quality assurance.
- Strong communication skills to translate data findings into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in remote or distributed environments.
- Understanding of or interest in sustainability, waste management, environmental impact, or circular economy initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, environmental science, engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with scripting or analytical tools (such as Python or R) and GIS or mapping tools is a plus
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-evolving impact-driven organization.
