The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Consultant, Custom Data Solutions, to own and grow our Custom Data Connect program, a strategic initiative that provides enterprise clients with bespoke, managed data delivery pipelines when our standard product cannot meet their needs. This role sits within the Professional Services organization and works at the intersection of data engineering, client delivery, and product innovation.
You will be the person who builds, maintains, and evolves the technical infrastructure behind these engagements, owns the client relationship from scoping through ongoing delivery, and identifies new opportunities to expand the service into adjacent areas. You are not just an executor. You are the architect of this program.
What You'll DoTechnical Delivery (Primary Focus)
- Design, build, and maintain custom data delivery pipelines for enterprise clients, with an initial focus on SFTP-based solutions using AWS S3, AWS Transfer Family, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and Glue
- Own the full pipeline lifecycle: requirements gathering, infrastructure provisioning, data transformation, format configuration (Avro, CSV, CSV.GZ), schema management, and ongoing maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures, data quality issues, and integration problems across diverse client environments (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, and others)
- Implement monitoring and observability practices for custom pipelines, including alerting, logging, and failure documentation, in collaboration with Engineering
- Write and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and infrastructure specs for each client environment
- Evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and approaches as the program evolves, bringing a continuous improvement mindset to how data is delivered and consumed
Innovation and Service Development
- Identify recurring patterns across client engagements and translate them into proposals for new service line opportunities (for example: downstream activation support, warehouse schema setup, BI tool integration)
- Stay current on data infrastructure trends and identify where Contentsquare's data can unlock additional client value that the standard product does not yet cover
- Feed technical learnings and client constraints back into the Product and Engineering roadmap process, acting as a structured source of field intelligence
- Work with PS Leadership to evaluate, scope, and pilot new offering types as demand emerges
Client Engagement and Stakeholder Management
- Lead technical scoping sessions with enterprise clients, translating business requirements into infrastructure designs and realistic delivery timelines
- Manage ongoing client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for technical escalations, change requests, and roadmap discussions
- Communicate pipeline status, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Partner with Sales, CSM, Product, and Engineering internally to align on delivery, escalation, and commercial structure
- Support existing clients when changes to their Contentsquare implementation (such as tag updates, schema changes, or data collection adjustments) affect their custom data pipeline or downstream data consumption
- Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of data delivery issues that stem from changes on the client side or the Contentsquare platform, looping in Engineering when needed
- Maintain a working, high-level understanding of Contentsquare's tag structure and data collection fundamentals, enough to diagnose common issues, communicate effectively with implementation teams, and set accurate expectations with clients
Process and Program Building
- Collaborate with PS Leadership, Product, and Engineering to co-design the operating model for the Custom Data Connect service, including intake, scoping, delivery, monitoring, and transition workflows
- Contribute the technical perspective to process design discussions, ensuring that what gets built on the operations side is grounded in what is actually deliverable
- Help build and maintain the documentation and playbooks needed to make this program scalable, in coordination with the broader PS team
- Surface process gaps and operational risks as they emerge, and bring recommendations to the right stakeholders rather than solving in isolation
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, technical consulting, or a hybrid role with significant data infrastructure ownership
- Deep proficiency with AWS data services: S3, AWS Transfer Family, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, AWS Glue, or equivalent cloud-native tooling (Azure, GCP equivalents considered)
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments
- Strong knowledge of at least two major cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift)
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation and pipeline logic
- Familiarity with data formats including Avro, Parquet, CSV, and their tradeoffs at scale
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and build structure where none exists
- Clear, direct communication skills with the ability to tailor technical depth to the audience
- Familiarity with SFTP security models, IP whitelisting, and file transfer best practices
- Background in Professional Services or client-facing consulting
Nice to Have
- Experience with orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or similar
- Exposure to BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and downstream data activation use cases
- Knowledge of digital analytics or behavioral data
