Role Description
The Data Engineer role is a full-time remote position responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that power analytics and content insights at The Robotics Ledger. Day-to-day tasks include developing and optimizing ETL processes, implementing data models, and managing data warehouses to ensure accurate, reliable, and well-structured data. The Data Engineer collaborates with editorial, product, and analytics teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and dashboards. This role also involves monitoring data quality, improving performance, documenting data systems, and contributing to best practices for data governance and security. The position is suited to individuals who enjoy working independently in a distributed environment while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering skills, including experience with Data Engineering and Data Warehousing in modern data platforms.
- Proficiency in Data Modeling, with the ability to design scalable schemas and structures for analytics and reporting.
- Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools, including building, scheduling, and optimizing data pipelines.
- Applied Data Analytics skills to support dashboards, reports, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and one or more programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala).
- Experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related data tools (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy best practices in a digital media or technology context.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical partners and collaborate in a remote, cross-functional team.
