Your Job
As a Data Engineer at Koch, you will design and deliver reliable, scalable data pipelines and Lakehouse solutions that enable analytics and visualization products for global business partners. You will partner closely with Business Analysts, Analytics Consultants, and engineers to translate business needs into robust data models, operational ETL pipelines, and metadata-driven solutions that accelerate insight and decision-making.
Our Team
The role is part of Koch Global Services (KGS) Analytics — an international team that develops analytics, BI, and visualization products for Koch businesses. As a member of this team, you’ll collaborate with global stakeholders across Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and Operational Excellence to build reusable, production-grade data capabilities.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable data pipelines and Lakehouse solutions that power dashboards and analytics at enterprise scale.
- Translate business problems into logical/physical data models and technical implementation plans that enable fast, accurate insights.
- Improve data quality, lineage, and reliability via metadata-driven design, source-to-target tracking, and automated validation.
- Optimize data performance, security, and cost through thoughtful architecture choices (e.g., partitioning, caching, incremental processing).
- Collaborate with analysts, BI developers, and stakeholders to turn analytic requirements into productionized data products and reuseable data assets.
- Drive developer productivity and production stability by implementing source control, CI/CD, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Advocate for and implement standards, frameworks, and reusable tooling to increase engineering velocity and enable impact analysis.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience — or 3+ years of industry professional experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience building, deploying, and operating data pipelines and data models (cloud or on-prem).
- Strong SQL skills with demonstrated experience designing and implementing data warehouses / dimensional models.
- Experience developing in Python/PySpark (or equivalent) and working with cloud lakehouse architectures (MS Fabric / Azure Lakehouse or similar).
- Practical experience with git-based source control (GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps) and working knowledge of CI/CD for data solutions.
What Will Put You Ahead
- 2+ years working with the Azure stack: Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables (DLT), Azure Databricks, and MS Fabric.
- 2+ years implementing cloud ETL/ELT and data warehousing with Azure Data Factory or equivalent orchestration tools.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI) or analytics tooling (Python) for enabling downstream consumers.
- Experience implementing automated CI/CD pipelines for data engineering, and familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field or certifications in Azure / data engineering technologies.
