About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Fabric to join our Data and Analytics team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions within the Fabric and Azure ecosystem. This position involves transitioning from traditional on-premises SQL environments to modern cloud-based data architectures, ensuring seamless migration, optimization, and integration of diverse data sources. The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to deliver analytics-ready datasets, support enterprise reporting, and enable AI initiatives. The role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud data engineering, performance tuning, data governance, and automation frameworks.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or similar roles is required, with proven expertise in SQL, data transformations, and performance optimization. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience with Python, PySpark, or Spark-based distributed processing technologies, along with a strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and other Azure Data Services. Familiarity with ETL/ELT architecture, data governance, and metadata management is essential. Additionally, experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, Git, and automated testing frameworks is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a solid background in modern data visualization tools and problem-solving skills within scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop data ingestion pipelines from APIs, SaaS platforms, on-premises systems, and other sources utilizing Fabric Pipelines, Notebooks, and PySpark, creating reusable data transformation frameworks for ETL/ELT processes.
- Design, build, and optimize Lakehouses, Delta tables, and Power BI semantic models to support enterprise analytics, reporting, and decision-making processes.
- Monitor system performance, storage layouts, and capacity utilization to ensure cost efficiency, scalability, and system reliability.
- Implement comprehensive data quality frameworks, including validation rules, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) enhancements.
- Participate in data governance initiatives, including lineage tracking, cataloging, and metadata management to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to deliver analytics-ready datasets and predictive models that meet organizational needs.
- Mentor junior engineers, promote best practices in data architecture, and contribute to the development of internal standards and documentation.
- Provide ongoing support for legacy systems, including on-premises SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS environments during the migration and decommissioning phases.
