About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team at VAANTECH. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and maintaining scalable data architectures, developing efficient ETL workflows, and working with cloud platforms and big data technologies. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead data engineering projects, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. The position requires an immediate joiner or candidates who can join within 15 days, with a preference for candidates based in Chennai, who are comfortable working in night shifts aligned with US timings. This is a remote position, allowing flexibility while maintaining a high level of collaboration and communication with the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL process development.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Strong understanding of data pipeline optimization and tuning techniques.
- Knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices.
- Experience working with Hadoop infrastructure and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers by providing guidance, support, and feedback to foster professional growth.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data architectures and pipelines to meet business requirements.
- Develop and optimize ETL workflows to enhance data processing efficiency, reduce operational costs, and ensure data quality.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering, and incorporate relevant innovations into projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver data engineering projects within deadlines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Set clear objectives, define project scope, and allocate tasks effectively among team members.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support team members’ career development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and innovative team culture that encourages continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Act as a liaison between the data engineering team and upper management, ensuring clear communication of project status and stakeholder expectations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, workflows, and project processes for future reference and compliance.
- Encourage the adoption of best practices, process improvements, and innovative solutions to enhance team productivity and project outcomes.
