About the Role : Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid- 3 days from office
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Director of Data Engineering and Analytics
We are seeking a Data Engineer to own and evolve the data platform that powers our SaaS products for seafood processors, distributors, and logistics operators. You will be responsible for the reliability and scalability of our ingestion and delivery infrastructure — from our Postgres operational systems through to Snowflake — ensuring clean, timely, and trustworthy data reaches downstream consumers. Our pipelines run on Kubernetes, with Debezium handling CDC replication and Airflow orchestrating batch workflows.
This role sits at the foundation of our data capability. You will work closely with our Analytics Engineer, product teams, and customers to onboard new data sources, maintain pipeline integrity, and expand the platform as our customer base grows.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Own and maintain our CDC pipeline (Debezium) replicating Postgres operational data into
• Snowflake
• Manage and maintain Airflow DAGs for orchestrating batch and event-driven workflows
• Onboard new data sources and operational systems as the product expands
• Design and implement data ingestion patterns for batch and event-driven workloads
• Build and maintain API integrations with third-party logistics and supply chain systems
• Implement data validation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure pipeline reliability
• Manage Snowflake platform configuration, access control, and cost optimization
• Partner with the Analytics Engineer to ensure data arrives in the right shape for
• transformation
• Support compliance requirements related to food safety traceability and data retention
You will be a good fit if you are:
• 4+ years of data engineering experience in a SaaS or product environment
• Experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP); Azure preferred
• Hands-on experience with Postgres and CDC tooling (Debezium or equivalent)
• Experience with Airflow for pipeline orchestration
• Experience deploying and operating services in Kubernetes
• Strong SQL and Python skills
• Experience with ELT/ETL frameworks and pipeline patterns
• Experience with Snowflake or equivalent cloud data warehouse (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift)
• Familiarity with dbt for data transformation
• Experience with REST API integrations (JSON)
• Proficiency with Git for version control
• Solid understanding of data quality practices and pipeline observability
• Familiarity with data governance and security fundamentals
We would welcome (but not required):
• Experience in food production, logistics, or supply chain domains
• Knowledge of inventory traceability or lot tracking systems
• Exposure to IoT or sensor data ingestion
