About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Google Data Engineer / Lead to join our dynamic team at Tata Consultancy Services. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in data engineering, data warehousing, and cloud-based data platforms, with a proven track record of delivering scalable and efficient data solutions. As a lead, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, develop innovative data pipelines, and implement best practices for data governance and security. Your expertise will help TCS leverage the full potential of GCP to enable data-driven decision-making and strategic insights for our clients.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years and up to 15 years of relevant experience in data engineering or related roles. A strong educational background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Certified - Professional Data Engineer or equivalent are highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in key technical skills including GCP services like Cloud Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer. Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing is essential. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or SQL are required, along with familiarity with data governance frameworks, data security, and compliance standards. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines utilizing Google Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Composer, and BigQuery to support business analytics and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to design and implement robust data warehousing solutions using BigQuery and Cloud Storage, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards to maintain data quality, security, and compliance across GCP environments.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business units to identify project requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure timely delivery of data solutions.
- Optimize GCP costs and improve data processing efficiency through innovative architecture and resource management strategies.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud data engineering, and incorporate them into ongoing projects.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
