About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic Nordics team based in Chennai. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines and workflows that underpin critical business reporting and analytics functions. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing data-driven decision-making processes within our organization and for our clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with a focus on developing reliable ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and ensuring data quality and governance. You will collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with large healthcare and pharma datasets, applying best practices in data management and analytics.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering or similar role.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data manipulation and scripting tasks.
- Experience working with DBT (Data Build Tool) for data transformation and modeling.
- Prior experience handling commercial pharma and healthcare datasets is required.
- Proven expertise with Amazon Redshift, including schema design and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling techniques such as star and snowflake schemas.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions based on high-level guidance and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, reliable ETL/ELT pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
- Develop modular and well-documented dbt models, tests, and exposures, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Write optimized SQL queries and design data models such as star and snowflake schemas to support analytics and self-service BI tools.
- Implement data quality measures, including testing, SLAs, data contracts, and lineage tracking to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Engage with analysts and business teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, and deliver solutions effectively.
- Establish reusable data engineering patterns, contribute to coding guidelines, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and runbooks.
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and observability for data pipelines to ensure high availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to enhance pipeline reliability.
- Handle domain-specific healthcare and pharma datasets with appropriate controls and compliance measures.
