This role is part of the Statistics & Data team, responsible for managing data acquisition operations related to multiple commodities across global markets. The candidate will work extensively with international government, customs, and freight-movement data sources to ensure accurate, standardized, and high-quality datasets for internal analysis and customer deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire and manage commodity-related data across multiple countries through government, customs, and freight-movement sources.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and maintain credible data sources, including authentic open-source and subscription-based platforms.
- Ensure timely collection and release of data to maximize value for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Collate and integrate data from diverse formats and sources into a standardized and homogeneous structure.
- Perform data sanitization, validation, and quality checks before uploading datasets to client platforms.
- Support the Manager – Statistics in data visualization initiatives to enable easy interpretation and analysis of data.
- Handle complex data acquisition and processing activities while continuously improving methodologies and workflows.
- Train, guide, and mentor new team members and associates to ensure consistency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless data flow and reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) or MBA (preferred).
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience in acquiring and managing international data from government, customs, and freight-related sources.
- Ability to identify, validate, and maintain reliable data sources.
- Proficiency in data collation, standardization, sanitization, and validation across multiple formats.
- Good understanding of data visualization concepts and analytical reporting.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and quality assurance.
- Ability to learn and manage complex data acquisition processes effectively.
- Strong communication, coordination, and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and data handling tools.
