About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join Mashreq’s Compliance Analytics team. This role is instrumental in supporting the Transaction Monitoring System Analytics Manager with both Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations and ad-hoc analytical initiatives. The primary focus of this position is to develop, optimize, and automate compliance data analytics, Management Information Systems (MIS), and regulatory reporting processes. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the bank’s adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions, and correspondent banking regulations through robust data analysis and reporting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background to contribute to the bank’s compliance and risk management efforts, utilizing advanced data tools and methodologies.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise and industry-specific knowledge, including:
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience as a Data Analyst within a financial institution, preferably a bank or regulated financial services organization.
- Proficiency in SQL development, with the ability to work with large datasets, optimize query performance, and implement indexing and partitioning strategies.
- Strong skills in Excel, including macros, VBA automation, Power Query, and pivot tables for MIS reporting.
- Experience with reporting and Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI or Tableau for data visualization and KPI reporting.
- Solid understanding of banking data, including transactional, customer, and compliance-related datasets.
- Ability to translate regulatory and compliance requirements into effective data analytics and reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role include:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries used for management reporting and regulatory submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Create and enhance automation tools within Excel using VBA to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.
- Build automated workflows and integrations leveraging SharePoint Online and Power Automate to facilitate seamless data sharing and process automation.
- Collaborate closely with Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to support tuning cycles, model updates, and ongoing production monitoring.
- Provide analytical support for production issues, data investigations, and system changes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of queries, processes, and reporting logic to ensure transparency and ease of maintenance.
