About the role
D-Wave is seeking a Senior Quantum Engineer to join our Quantum Design and Architecture group, focused on developing next-generation dual-rail quantum processors. This role sits at the intersection of quantum processor architecture, device physics, RF engineering, and cross-functional execution, with a strong emphasis on system-level thinking.
The work is inherently forward-looking and exploratory, involving pathfinding, de-risking new ideas, and translating theoretical concepts into scalable hardware designs. You will work on defining, implementing, and evaluating new processor architectures and device concepts, collaborating closely with teams across design, fabrication, and test.
What you'll do
- Driving the design and analysis of dual-rail quantum processors, including qubits, couplers, readout, quantum-limited amplifiers, and related circuit elements
- Apply quantum device physics and circuit theory to improve performance, robustness, and scalability of quantum hardware
- Support RF and microwave engineering efforts related to control, readout, and system integration
- Work on exploratory and path-finding projects aimed at enabling future processor generations
- Collaborate closely with fabrication, mechanical, and device assembly teams to ensure designs are compatible with manufacturing constraints and capabilities
- Collaborate with measurement and characterization teams to define experimental protocols, and metrics needed to evaluate new designs
- Develop, maintain, or improve internal tools and workflows for circuit design, simulation, and analysis
- Generate detailed and clear technical documentations to support team decision-making
About You
- PhD with Post-Doc experience, or equivalent work experience; or MS with 3+ years of work experience in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience in superconducting quantum devices, with solid foundation in device physics, circuit modeling, and RF/microwave engineering
- Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools, circuit simulators, and layout tools
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment spanning theory, design, fabrication, and test
- Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal
