About The Role
The Cyber Security Engineer at SENTIENT plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's and clients' digital infrastructure. This position involves deploying, managing, and optimizing security tools such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDPS, and WAF to protect against cyber threats. The engineer will monitor security alerts, analyze potential incidents, and participate actively in incident response activities. Additionally, the role requires ensuring compliance with industry regulations like HIPAA, SOC 2, and PCI/DSS, conducting security assessments of vendors, and supporting cloud security initiatives across platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset, strong technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or have over five years of experience working in cybersecurity or related environments. Certifications such as Azure Virtual certifications, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar are preferred. A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity with proficiency in security tools like SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDPS, and WAF is essential. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including NIST, SOC 2, and PCI/DSS is required. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a keen eagerness to learn new technologies and develop their skill set. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and experience with scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, ARM templates, and Azure CLI are highly valued. Familiarity with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, as well as understanding DevOps principles, networking, databases, and operating systems (Windows and Linux), will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and manage security tools including SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDPS, and WAF to ensure robust security posture.
- Continuously monitor security alerts and events to detect and respond to potential threats promptly.
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, analysis, documentation, and remediation of security incidents.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts by conducting security assessments, audits, and maintaining documentation for standards such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and PCI/DSS.
- Assess security practices of vendors and supply chain partners, developing and maintaining a comprehensive vendor risk management program.
- Coordinate and support security and compliance projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Implement and manage security controls within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring best practices are followed.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies through continuous learning and professional development.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation using PowerShell, Terraform, and other tools to streamline security operations.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
- Collaborate with IT teams to enhance overall security architecture and ensure security best practices are integrated into all projects.
