About the role

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Perl Scripting Developer to design, develop, and maintain automation scripts, data processing applications, and system integrations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Perl programming, along with experience in Linux/Unix environments, database interactions, and shell scripting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain Perl scripts for data processing, system automation, and application integrations.
  • Work with regular expressions, file handling, and text parsing to manipulate and process large datasets.
  • Create and maintain automation scripts for system administration, monitoring, and deployment tasks.
  • Integrate Perl scripts with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.) and APIs (REST, SOAP).
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize existing Perl scripts for performance and scalability.
  • Work in Linux/Unix environments, utilizing shell scripting and cron jobs for scheduling tasks.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to integrate Perl scripts into larger applications.
  • Maintain documentation and version control for all developed scripts.
  • Stay updated with modern scripting techniques, security best practices, and automation tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Perl scripting and automation.
  • Strong expertise in regular expressions, file handling, and text parsing using Perl.
  • Experience working with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle) and writing optimized SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell) and system administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with API integration (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
  • Understanding of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Perl frameworks (Moose, Catalyst, Dancer, Mojolicious).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Knowledge of Python, Ruby, or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).
