Tufenkian Artisan Carpets is seeking a Custom Design & Product Development Coordinator to join our team.
This position plays a key role in the development and execution of both custom projects and in-house collections, supporting the full product development lifecycle from concept through production. As Custom Design and Product Development Coordinator, you will be working closely with our custom, design, and sales teams, as well as our manufacturing partners, to ensure exceptional design quality, technical accuracy, and seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Custom Project Development
- Coordinate the development of custom rug projects from initial concept through production.
- Create design presentations, CADs, renderings, and technical artwork for client proposals.
- Develop and maintain colorways, design specifications, and project documentation.
- Translate client concepts, inspiration, and reference materials into production-ready rug designs.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are executed accurately and to the highest quality standards.
Collection & Design Development
- Contribute to the development of new in-house rug collections from initial concept through launch.
- Create original rug designs and develop existing concepts into production-ready artwork.
- Develop color palettes, color boards, and multiple colorway options for new collections.
- Prepare final CADs and production artwork for manufacturing.
- Research and propose new constructions, materials, pile combinations, carving techniques, and weaving qualities that support innovative product development.
- Stay informed on trends in interiors, textiles, art, architecture, fashion, and color to inspire new product concepts.
Product Development & Organization
- Maintain organized records of projects, artwork, color libraries, construction details, and production assets.
- Assist with quality review of strike-offs, sampling, and production revisions.
- Support communication between design, sales, and production teams throughout the development process.
- Ensure consistency across design files, specifications, and production documentation.
Qualifications
- Degree in Textile Design or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop; experience with CAD is essential. Experience with Galaincha is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to develop original designs and thoughtfully apply color.
- Strong understanding of textile construction, materials, and product development is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in rugs, textiles, or luxury product development is preferred.
