Job Summary
CRISP Shared Services (CSS) serves as the technology partner for health information exchange (HIE) partners in Maryland, DC, West Virginia, Connecticut, Alaska, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, and other jurisdictions. CSS facilitates the electronic transfer of clinical information between disparate information systems in order to positively impact the healthcare system through improved patient care and outcomes, reduced costs, and data-driven understanding of regional public health concerns.
The Sr Director of Strategic Initiatives is a key strategic partner to the Executive Director (ED) and the Maryland leadership team, playing a pivotal role in driving organizational performance, launching new initiatives, and strengthening areas that require improvement. Acting as a trusted advisor and operational leader, this role provides visibility and structure around strategic goals, translating executive vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. They take ownership of planning and implementing new programs or strategic efforts, while also diagnosing and addressing operational challenges to optimize performance. By anticipating needs, resolving issues, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, this role enables leadership to focus on the most critical decisions and opportunities that advance the mission in Maryland.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Strategic Planning & Execution: Partner with the ED and Maryland leadership team to define, prioritize, and drive organizational goals. Oversee progress tracking and ensure successful delivery of key initiatives from concept to completion. Support the measurement, reporting, and achievement of quarterly and annual objectives.
- Executive Support & Advising: Serve as a trusted thought partner to the ED, conducting analyses, surfacing ideas, and offering recommendations to inform high-impact decisions. Provide context, insight, and solutions to help leadership navigate complex challenges.
- Special Initiatives & Continuous Improvement: Lead or collaborate on high-priority projects, change management efforts, and strategic partnerships. This includes planning and launching new initiatives (e.g., AHEAD, Rural, and other priority programs) as well as diagnosing and improving underperforming processes or operational areas.
- Relationship Management & Communication: Represent CRISP in internal and external forums. Ensure accurate, timely, and strategic communication across the organization and with partners such as MHCC, HSCRC, MDH, MedChi, MHA, and other pertinent entities.
- Culture & Values Leadership: Model CRISP’s mission, culture, and values in all interactions. Foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and innovation across teams and partners.
Qualifications

- Skilled at analyzing complex information, identifying challenges, and developing practical solutions.
- Proven ability to drive organizational priorities from conception to implementation, with demonstrated success in both launching new initiatives and improving underperforming processes.
- Strong track record of building and managing relationships with senior leaders, policymakers, regulatory bodies, and partner organizations.
- Experience in project management, process improvement, and performance measurement frameworks.
Experience and/or Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or other Master’s Degree preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH)
- Background in IT / Healthcare / Public Health
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience as a senior leader, ideally working with executives in a healthcare organization
- 10+ years of experience in not-for-profit management
- 10+ years of experience implementing and managing Health IT systems, including contract negotiations
Summary
Compensation and Benefits Package
- Targeted base salary: $180k - $220k, based on experience and qualifications, plus benefits and bonuses.
- Benefits include the following but are not limited to health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. CSS also has a 403(b) plan with discretionary employer match and contributions. You will be eligible for 20 days of Paid Time Off per year (accrued in accordance with CSS’s policies). PTO is in addition to 8 company designated holidays. If you are not PTO eligible, you may be eligible for applicable state and/or local sick and safe leave in accordance with the provisions of any applicable state and/or local sick and safe leave laws.
