Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Credit Manager at our Mumbai office. The Credit Manager will oversee the evaluation and monitoring of credit risks, manage the end-to-end credit management processes, and ensure adherence to company credit policies. Responsibilities include analyzing financial information, setting credit terms, mitigating credit risk exposure, tracking customer accounts, and ensuring timely collections. Collaboration with the finance team and other departments to improve credit processes and drive organizational success is key. Immediate joiners are preferred to start making an impact promptly.
Key Responsibilities
· Credit Assessment & Risk Management: Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers using financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories.
· Credit Limit Setting: Determine and set credit limits and payment terms (e.g., net-30, net-60) in accordance with the company’s risk appetite.
· Collection & Account Receivable (AR) Management: Monitor accounts receivable aging to identify high-risk accounts and proactively manage collections to reduce Day Sales Outstanding (DSO).
· Process Improvement & Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update credit policies and procedures to ensure consistent, secure, and efficient credit-granting.
· Sales Collaboration: Work closely with sales teams to approve credit limits for new accounts while balancing sales growth opportunities with potential risks.
· Dispute Resolution: Negotiate with customers on delinquent accounts and resolve payment disputes related to billing or product quality.
· Reporting: Prepare regular reports on credit performance, bad debt provisions, and aging accounts for senior management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Experience: Proven experience as a Credit Manager, Credit Analyst, or similar role (8-10+ years preferred).
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, modeling).
· Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, excellent negotiation skills, diplomacy, and the ability to work under pressure.
· Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of credit laws, UCC filings (in the US), and B2B collections strategies.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Reduction in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
· Decrease in percentage of bad debts.
· Improvement in collection effectiveness index.
· Timely completion of new customer credit checks.
Qualifications
- Experience in Credit Management and Credit Risk Management
- Strong Analytical and Financial skills for evaluating creditworthiness and risk management
- Proven expertise in credit analysis and assessment processes
- Knowledge of financial reporting and data analysis tools
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software
- Work experience in IT or technology sectors is a plus
