Design the future with a global team of experts
We are looking for an Associate Project Director to join our global and highly professional team of specialists that provides detailed engineering and project management on numerous civil design projects and will report under the Head of Discipline. Your primary task in our team will be to apply sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields. You will make decisions on engineering problems and methods and work as an integral part of a team to deliver design projects.
As a member of the North America team, you will work across the transportation and energy sectors and beyond, supporting projects within railways, highways, metros, marine, wind, and more.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
· Lead engineering teams, mentoring junior staff and coordinating technical work.
· Solve complex design challenges, delivering calculations, drawings, and cost estimates.
· Plan projects (budgets, schedules) and ensure compliance with codes/standards.
· Optimize designs through technical/financial analysis and site inspections.
· Produce critical documentation (specs, reports) and liaise with clients/stakeholders.
· Oversee quality control, from feasibility studies to final deliverables.
· Develop innovative solutions for transportation, energy, and infrastructure projects.

Furthermore, you should have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 15+ years in Civil Design and Project Management, or equivalent education/experience.
· Professional Engineer registration in NY (or ability to obtain within 6 months of joining COWI).
· Knowledge of NYC public agency processes (NYCDDC, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, NYCDEP) and private utility companies.
· Active participation in professional associations; willingness and ability to learn.
· Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills, able to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
· Clear written/verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with CADD analysis software.
· Ability to work with remote teams; willingness to travel is.

Base compensation: $103,200 to $159,600 for San Diego location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
