We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Student Intern Trainee to join our Fleet Services team.

This internship program is to train incumbents in basic automotive service skills, including but not limited to:

Position Duties
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of: the operating principles of automotive and related equipment; the techniques and methods of overhauling and repairing automobiles, trucks, and equipment; the materials, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of automobiles and trucks.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to: understand and follow oral instruction; read and understand service and repair manuals and diagrams; overhaul automotive equipment; do arc and gas welding; work cooperatively with others; work in a safe and efficient manner; input and retrieve information from a PC.

Other Qualifications
Person appointed to temporary employment with the County in a training position which compliments their ongoing education as a regularly enrolled student in an accredited school, who have recently graduated from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and who are working to complete related licensure or certification requirements, or as a participant in a supervised training program to meet licensure requirements of the State of California. "Regularly enrolled" shall mean that the student is both currently enrolled and intends to continue that enrollment in the next regularly scheduled term. The training placement shall have the prior approval of the student's departmental advisor and both the student's continued enrollment and the training placement are subject to review by the Human Resources Director or designee.
Licenses and Certificates
A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
