As a Counsellor you will be the first point of contact for prospective undergraduates and their families—answering queries, explaining application processes and ensuring every student begins their Collegepond journey with clarity and confidence. The position is ideal for a self-starter who wants to grow into a full-fledged Counsellor within 12-18 months.
Key Responsibilities
% Time
40 % Conduct informative discovery calls & follow-up emails with students/parents; capture goals, timelines and program interests in CRM.
25 % Guide students through platform basics (Common App, UCAS, Coalition, ApplyTexas, OUAC, etc.) and compile document checklists.
15 % Draft high-quality summaries of student profiles for hand-off to Senior Counsellors; highlight academic standing, extracurriculars and initial university list.
10 % Coordinate webinars, mock interview sessions and essay-writing workshops; prepare slide decks & attendance reports.
10 % Track engagement metrics (lead-to-enrolment conversion, response times) and suggest process improvements.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
- Communication: Exceptional spoken & written English; able to translate complex admissions guidelines into clear action steps.
- Initiative: Proven self-starter who can prioritise tasks in a fast-moving environment with minimal supervision.
- Learning Mindset: Demonstrated curiosity—keeps up with changing admission policies, scholarship options and testing trends.
- Client Empathy: Comfortable engaging with teenagers and parents; patient listener who builds trust quickly.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- 6-18 months experience advising high-school or gap-year students.
- Hands-on familiarity with Common App, UCAS, and at least one other global application portal.
