We are looking for a Costing Engineer for our New Product Development (NPD) team in a techno-commercial role. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, developing should-cost models, and supporting quotation activities for new products while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for new product development (NPD) projects
- Develop and maintain should-cost models for components and assemblies
- Analyze engineering drawings and technical specifications to derive costing inputs
- Evaluate raw materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, labour, overheads, and margins
- Coordinate with design, production, sourcing, and quality teams for feasibility and cost inputs
- Track and monitor cost variations during different stages of product development
- Support quotation preparation and techno-commercial discussions with customers
- Identify cost optimization and value engineering opportunities
- Maintain costing sheets, databases, and MIS reports
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings (AutoCAD) and technical specifications
- Understanding of cost structures including materials, processing, and tooling
- Basic knowledge of metals such as Copper, Brass, and Aluminum, including scrap trends
- Exposure to manufacturing processes like injection molding, assembly, or quality practices
- Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, cost models, data analysis)
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering industry preferred
