Job Description – Electrical Panel Costing & Design Engineer (EPLAN)

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Panel Costing & Design Engineer with hands-on experience in EPLAN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing electrical panel designs, generating manufacturing drawings, and preparing accurate cost estimates for LT panels, automation panels, PLC/SCADA panels, RTU panels, MCCs, PCCs, and other customized control panels.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare electrical schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, and BOMs using EPLAN Electric P8.
· Design LT control and automation panels, including PLC, RTU, SCADA, MCC, PCC, APFC, and control panels.
· Prepare detailed cost estimates and techno-commercial BOMs based on customer specifications.
· Select suitable electrical components such as breakers, relays, contactors, PLCs, HMIs, power supplies, terminals, and enclosures.
· Review RFQs, tender documents, SLDs, and technical specifications to develop compliant designs.
· Coordinate with the Sales, Procurement, Production, and Project teams for technical clarifications and project execution.
· Optimize panel designs for cost, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable standards.
· Prepare manufacturing documents and support the shop floor during fabrication and testing.
· Maintain engineering documentation, design revisions, and project records.
· Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, and relevant customer specifications.
Required Skills
· Strong proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8 (mandatory).
· Good knowledge of electrical panel design and engineering.
· Experience in electrical panel costing and estimation.
· Sound understanding of PLC, SCADA, RTU, MCC, PCC, APFC, and control panels.
· Knowledge of electrical protection, control philosophy, and component selection.
· Ability to prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
· Familiarity with AutoCAD is an added advantage.
· Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Experience: 3–7 years of experience in electrical panel design and costing.
Experience in power distribution, industrial automation, or control panel manufacturing will be preferred.
Preferred Experience
· Experience with Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, Phoenix Contact, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent products.
· Exposure to utility automation, substations, SCADA, and industrial automation projects is an advantage.
