Role Description
The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project costs to ensure the project is delivered within budget. The role involves preparing cost reports, forecasts, and supporting project management in decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial information. The Cost Controller ensures proper cost tracking, budget adherence, and financial reporting throughout all phases of a project.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor project expenditures and compare them against approved budgets.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for management review.
- Track commitments, purchase orders, subcontracts, and material costs.
- Support project teams in preparing cost estimates, change orders, and budget revisions.
- Analyze cost trends and recommend corrective actions to control expenses.
- Collaborate with project, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost data.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting procedures and project financial policies.
- Maintain accurate cost documentation for audits, client reporting, and internal reviews.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting and analysis.
- Support project risk assessment from a cost perspective and identify potential financial exposures.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Engineering.
- Professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) (preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in cost control within EPC, construction, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in cost control software, ERP systems, and MS Office (Excel, Power BI preferred).
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of cost control processes, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze cost data, trends, and project forecasts.
- Proficiency in ERP, Primavera P6, or project control systems.
- Understanding of procurement, contracts, and project financial management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team player capable of coordinating with multiple departments.
