The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of facial anatomy, a keen eye for symmetry, and a "patient-first" mentality.

- Conduct thorough pre-operative patient assessments, including review of medical history, current medications, allergies, and any conditions that may affect surgical outcomes.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure using standardized safety protocols.
- Review and confirm completion of pre-op labs, EKGs, clearances, and imaging studies as ordered by the surgeon or anesthesia provider.
- Provide detailed pre-operative education to patients and their caregivers regarding the procedure, fasting requirements (NPO status), medication adjustments, and what to expect on the day of surgery.
- Confirm patient compliance with pre-surgical instructions, including discontinuation of blood thinners, supplements, nicotine, and alcohol.
- Take and document baseline vital signs, weight, and pre-op photographs as needed.
- Start IV access, administer pre-op medications, and prepare the patient for transfer to the OR.
- Complete all pre-op documentation, surgical consents, and verify advance directives.
- Coordinate with the surgical team, anesthesia provider, and surgeon to ensure seamless patient hand-off.
- Ease patient anxiety through compassionate communication and clear explanations.
Post-Operative Duties
- Receive patients from the OR and perform initial post-anesthesia assessments, including airway, breathing, circulation, level of consciousness, and pain.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, surgical sites, drains, and dressings at established intervals.
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other symptoms per physician orders and standing protocols.
- Recognize and respond promptly to post-op complications such as hematoma, excessive bleeding, respiratory compromise, or adverse reactions to anesthesia.
- Assist patients with ambulation, voiding, and transition from anesthesia.
- Ensure proper placement and function of compression garments, surgical bras, drains (JP drains), and dressings specific to procedures like breast augmentation, tummy tucks, liposuction, facelifts, BBLs, and rhinoplasty.
- Provide thorough discharge education covering wound care, drain management, activity restrictions, medication schedules, signs of complications, and follow-up appointments.
- Confirm a responsible adult is present for discharge and review post-op instructions with both the patient and caregiver. Document all care, assessments, and patient responses accurately in the EMR.
Follow-Up & Continuity of Care
- Conduct post-op phone calls within 24-48 hours to assess recovery and address concerns.
- Triage post-op patient calls and messages, escalating to the surgeon when appropriate.
- Assist with post-op office visits, including drain removal, suture removal, dressing changes, and progression photographs. Reinforce education on scar management, garment use, lymphatic massage recommendations, and activity progression.
Clinical & Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain crash cart, emergency medications, and ensure readiness of resuscitation equipment.
- Adhere to AAAHC, AAAASF, or applicable accreditation standards for office-based surgery.
- Follow infection control, sterile technique, and OSHA guidelines at all times.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records and controlled substance documentation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, CRNAs, surgical techs, and medical assistants to support efficient OR turnover and patient flow. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, M&M reviews, and continuing education.
Patient Experience & Brand Standards
- Deliver concierge-level care that reflects the CaloAesthetics brand and patient experience standards.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance, particularly given the sensitive and elective nature of cosmetic procedures.
- Build rapport and trust with patients throughout their surgical journey, recognizing the emotional component of aesthetic surgery.
