The Opportunity:
Playo's services run on a containerised AWS stack, and the platform underneath them is what makes shipping fast, safe, and observable. We're hiring a Core Platform Engineer to help build and operate these services.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build and operate Playo's production services on AWS — owning containerisation, task definitions, deployments, and scaling.
- Build platform tooling, automation, and internal services in Python.
- Own the open-source observability stack (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus) — dashboards, PromQL, structured logs, alerting that's actionable rather than noisy.
- Investigate incidents end-to-end, fix root causes, and turn each one into a runbook, alert, or guardrail so it doesn't recur.
- Improve the system of SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and on-call hygiene that keeps Playo's services reliable as the codebase and traffic grow.
Requirements:
- 2+ years experience building and shipping production code in Python
- Comfortable operating node.js and python services in production i.e debug, deploy, and understand implementation
- Hands-on with AWS ECS and containerised workloads (Docker, task definitions, services, rollouts)
- Working experience with the open-source observability stack — Grafana, Loki, Prometheus
- Working familiarity with AWS operational excellence and SRE fundamentals
- Passion for sports and fitness
- Excitement about working in a fast-paced startup environment
