Job Description:

Candidate will be able to review and evaluate applications and transcripts for compliance with academic standards and assist in monitoring and enforcing graduate admission regulations and deadlines established by the Graduate School. Candidate will be able to recommend admissibility within the graduate admissions criteria and will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Graduate Admissions Office in the absence of the Director. All applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to listen effectively. They must possess excellent customer service skills and thrive in a team-oriented setting. Applicants must be able to effectively problem solve and make decisions based on policy. They must be able to assimilate information from diverse resources in order to make informed decisions. The applicant must be able to effectively manage work responsibilities, establish priorities, and accurately record, proof, and compare data. They must be able to utilize general office equipment, computers, and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (such as Microsoft Office). They must be able to manage data, communication, storage & retrieval, and also be able to read, interpret, and apply policies and practices in the work setting.
Other responsibilities will include Responding to inquiries from graduate applicants regarding admission to the Graduate School; composes letters, FAX, Telex and e-mail communications; sends pre-applications and applications; may certify financial solvency and first-year support; provides conditional and final letters of admission.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and evaluates applications and transcripts for compliance with academic standards and assists in monitoring and enforcing graduate admission regulations and deadlines established by the Graduate School and recommends admissibility within those criteria and is responsible for day-to-day operations of Graduate Admissions Office in the absence of the Director.

  • Processes, edits and distributes acceptance and denial letters; keeps informed regarding changes in policies, procedures and criteria governing graduate school admission.

  • Responds to written, telephone and personal inquiries for information regarding graduate admission policies, regulations, procedures and deadlines.

  • Provides information to and assists departmental admissions committees regarding policies, regulations, procedures and criteria governing graduate school admission and notifies academic departments of action taken.

  • Revises and edits graduate application form in cooperation with departmental admissions committees and graduate school, approves copy and makes arrangements for printing.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in admissions, enrollment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to multitask and work in a dynamic environment.

  • Good organization skills and the ability to work across programs and departments essential.

Conditions of Employment:

  • No or very limited physical effort required.

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
