Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Conveyor Belt Vulcanizer role based in Chennai. The Conveyor Belt Vulcanizer will perform hot and cold vulcanizing of conveyor belts, including preparation of belt surfaces, alignment, and splicing steelcord belts according to technical specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities include operating vulcanizing presses and related tools, inspecting belts for wear or damage, and carrying out repairs or replacements to minimize downtime. The role involves reading and understanding work instructions and technical drawings, coordinating with supervisors and site teams, and maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used. The individual will also be expected to follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Practical experience in conveyor belt splicing, hot and cold vulcanizing, steelcord belts and general belt maintenance in industrial or mining environments.
- Ability to operate vulcanizing presses, hand tools, measuring instruments, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of rubber materials, fabric and steel cord belts, adhesive systems, and curing processes relevant to conveyor belt vulcanizing.
- Understanding of workplace safety standards, use of personal protective equipment, and safe working practices at industrial sites.
- Basic technical reading skills to interpret work orders, drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- Physical fitness to work in field conditions, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces when required.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
- Prior experience in mining, material handling, or heavy engineering services is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational training or certification in mechanical, industrial, or maintenance trades is preferred.
