The Opportunity
Acumen is seeking a highly motivated and target-driven professional to serve as a Conversion Officer representing a leading UK university. In this role, you will act as a critical touchpoint for prospective students, taking ownership of the lead conversion process and guiding applicants smoothly through the admissions funnel.
This position is heavily focused on lead management and student engagement. The ideal candidate will bring excellent conversational and persuasion skills, with the ability to conduct structured phone consultations, build rapport, and tailor discussions to various stakeholders. Operating from our Mumbai or Bangalore office, you will work closely with our regional teams to manage CRM pipelines, track document submissions, and ensure a seamless, high-quality applicant experience that actively drives enrolment growth.
Role Summary:
Key Responsibilities
Student Engagement & Conversion
- Conduct structured phone consultations with prospective students to understand their academic background, study goals, preferred course level and timeline.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information, language school pathways, programme offerings, scholarship options and eligibility criteria.
- Handle student/parent queries related to admissions processes, application requirements, visa types, and Acumen's policies with clarity and confidence.
- Build strong rapport with students/parents through empathetic, personalised conversations and ensure consistent follow-ups (call → WhatsApp → email) to keep prospects engaged and moving down the funnel.
- Apply persuasion and negotiation skills to convert leads at different stages - from cold enquiry through to confirmed counselling appointment.
- Track and follow up on document submissions (transcripts, SOPs, LORs, passports, etc.) to support smooth downstream application processing.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and represent the university at in-person events, fairs, and recruitment activities as required.
Lead Management, CRM & Reporting
- Manage and track all student leads through the CRM system, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely updates after every interaction. Monitor lead pipelines and follow-ups to improve conversion rates.
- Monitor lead pipelines and follow-up queues to maximise contact rates and improve overall conversion.
- Utilise tools including CRM platforms (e.g. LeadSquared/Salesforce), contact centre systems, WhatsApp Business, and student record systems effectively.
- Share daily call logs and weekly performance summaries with the team lead.
- Prepare and share insights on market intelligence, competitor activity, and emerging trends based on student interactions and conversion activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, International Relations, Mass Communication or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in the similar telecalling, telesales, or student engagement role; strong freshers with excellent communication skills will be considered.
- Prior experience in EdTech, overseas education counselling,
- Familiarity with CRM tools (LeadSquared, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and contact centre systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for reporting and data tracking
