ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer with strong fundamentals in industrial automation and control systems. You will be responsible for the development, integration, testing, and commissioning of automation solutions across diverse platforms — working closely with lead engineers and contributing to the full project lifecycle from design to deployment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Execution
• Develop, configure, test, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications on-site in accordance with project specifications and design documents.
• Implement motion control solutions involving VFDs and servo systems, with a strong understanding of underlying control principles.
• Integrate automation systems with field devices and third-party systems using standard industrial communication protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and communication issues across automation platforms.
• Plan and execute FAT prior to site deployment and SAT post-commissioning.
• Support integration of automation systems with cloud platforms and data management tools.
• Provide post-deployment service support to completed projects, including remote and on-site assistance.
Documentation
• Prepare and maintain complete project documentation including test protocols, I/O lists, user manuals, application notes, site reports, and as-built records.
• Adhere to coding standards, engineering procedures, and documentation practices defined by the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Experience
• 3-4 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, with demonstrated proficiency in PLC, HMI/SCADA programming and commissioning, with a minimum of 2 years in executing projects end to end.
• Proven experience working on control systems with distributed architectures, motion control and protocol integration.
• Hands-on experience in control panel wiring, assembly, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in parts selection, control wiring design, and control panel design.
• Proven experience integrating automation systems with different types of sensors, actuators, control valves, motors, instruments, and other field devices.
• Exposure to industrial verticals such as marine, automobile, packaging, or pharma is an advantage.
Technical Skills
Automation Hardware & Software
• PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, and servo systems from Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Mitsubishi Electric, and Phoenix Contact (proficient in minimum of any 2 OEM)
• Troubleshooting tools: Modscan, PuTTY, Docklight, Wireshark.
Programming
• Proficient in IEC 61131-3 languages: Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), and Structured Text (ST).
• Understanding of motion control programming — cam profiles, SVC, position and torque control.
• Scripting languages for integration and backend tasks.
Communication Protocols
• Modbus RTU/TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, OPC-UA, MQTT, CC-Link, EtherCAT, CAN, RS232, and RS485.
Engineering Documents
• Ability to read and produce URS, FDS, DDS, P&ID, SLD, system architecture diagrams, panel drawings, cable schedules, I/O lists, user manuals, application notes, site reports and commissioning reports.
Standards
• Working knowledge of ISA-88, ISA-95, ISA-101, IEC 61131-3, IEC 62443, and functional safety concepts.
Network & Cybersecurity
• Good understanding of network architecture including network segmentation, managed switches, network gateways, and secure remote access implementation.
Data Management
• Familiarity with scripting languages for integration tasks. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases is an advantage.
Soft Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex control challenges into clear, manageable tasks.
• Precise and unambiguous communicator — in documentation, client interactions, and within the team.
• Self-managed, organised, and motivated with a structured approach to execution.
• Willingness to travel for site commissioning and post-deployment service support.
• Committed to continuous learning and keeping up with evolving automation technologies.
• Collaborative mindset and good emotional intelligence.
WHAT WE OFFER
• Hands-on exposure to complex, multi-sector automation and digitization projects.
• A technically rich environment with experienced engineers to learn from and grow with.
• Professional development through training, certifications, and international project opportunities.
• Competitive compensation with performance-linked incentives.
• A clear growth path towards lead and senior engineering roles.
