Role Overview
The Controller – India will serve as the senior finance leader for Versa Networks' India entity, owning all financial, accounting, compliance, and reporting functions. This role partners closely with global finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure financial integrity, statutory compliance, and operational efficiency across India operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
● Own end-to-end financial operations for the India entity, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow management
● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Indian GAAP and US GAAP (as applicable)
● Deliver financial analysis, variance reporting, and actionable business insights to global leadership
Statutory Compliance & Taxation
● Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory requirements — Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST, TDS, FEMA, and Transfer Pricing regulations
● Manage relationships with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities (MCA, CBDT, GST authorities)
● Oversee timely filing of all regulatory returns including ROC, Income Tax, and GST
● Support in the worldwide consolidated audit
Controllership
● Lead month-end and year-end close processes for the India entity with accuracy and timeliness
● Maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX-readiness where applicable
● Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and vendor management
Transfer Pricing & Intercompany
● Manage intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation in line with OECD guidelines and Indian regulations
● Work with external advisors to prepare and maintain annual Transfer Pricing study reports
Treasury & Banking
● Manage banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning for the India entity
● Oversee FEMA/RBI compliance for foreign currency transactions, inward remittances, and repatriation
Business Partnering
● Partner with India office leadership, HR, and legal teams on budgeting, workforce planning, and cost management
● Support global FP&A with India-specific inputs for budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning
● Drive cost optimization and operational efficiency initiatives across the India business
● Coordinate with sales team for timely invoicing to customers and related collections
● Manage vendor relationships
Team Leadership
● Build, lead, and mentor the India finance team to deliver high-quality outcomes by the due dates
● Foster a high-performance culture aligned with Versa's global finance standards and values
Qualifications & Experience
● Chartered Accountant (CA) — mandatory – Big-4 experience preferred
● 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
● Prior experience in a multinational technology or SaaS company strongly preferred
● Deep expertise in Indian statutory compliance, direct and indirect taxation, and transfer pricing
● Working knowledge of US GAAP and consolidation requirements for MNC subsidiaries
● Hands-on experience with ERP systems — NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle preferred
● Strong analytical skills and financial modeling capability
● Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities
