Temperature Controls Project Assistant
The Temperature Controls Project Assistant is a key member of our Custom Controls Division. This role supports the Project Manager with the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial building automation and temperature control systems. You’ll work hands-on with wiring, programming, and system start-ups while collaborating closely with contractors, technicians, and other team members.
Responsibilities
- Install low voltage control wiring as needed
- Perform point-to-point checkout of control system installations
- Assist with troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning of terminal units
- Support system programming and graphic generation
- Read and interpret control drawings, mechanical plans, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Build and wire temperature control panels
- Deliver control components to job sites as needed
- Work with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and manlifts
- Maintain current knowledge of products, installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following safety procedures, rules, and regulations
- Collaborate with Jackson Systems employees and contractors to ensure projects are completed successfully
- Perform other duties as required
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Solid technical mindset and troubleshooting ability
- Familiarity with O365 applications
- Proficiency in basic computer skills
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior HVAC knowledge or experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Pushing/pulling wire or equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Stooping, standing, reaching, and climbing, including repetitive ladder use
- Working from manlifts, rooftops, and at high altitudes
- Fine motor manipulation of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work in very warm or very cool environments
