Software Engineer - Extensibility

As a Software Engineer on Contentful’s Ecosystem team, you will play a critical role in developing and refining extensibility tools and frameworks to enable the greatest customer extensibility impact, serving both internal and external developers. You will be designing, developing, and maintaining developer tools such as Contentful’s App Framework, Contentful Functions, the Contentful CLI, webhooks, and client libraries/SDKs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the needs and pain points of our customers and partners, and work towards providing effective solutions to enhance their productivity and satisfaction. Your expertise in creating seamless and intuitive developer experiences will play a direct role in Contentful’s growth and customer retention. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building remarkable solutions that build a strong, modern platform and make developers’ lives easier. Experience with recent trends in developer tooling, developer productivity, and maintaining public, open-source libraries is a plus. What to Expect? Developer Experience: Design and implement strategies that improve Contentful’s developer user experience. Build tools and frameworks that streamline the end-to-end development process. Identify and develop product enhancements to maximize the platform’s extensibility. Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for developer products. Developer Platforms: Develop and maintain high-quality enterprise developer products including full-stack extensibility platforms such as our App Framework, webhooks, and programmable workflows. Enhance our App Framework and App Marketplace based on feedback and evolving developer needs. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our tools and SDKs remain cutting-edge and provide a remarkable developer experience. Customer Empathy: Have an understanding of the struggles our customers face and help inform the team’s work and priorities. Monitor and respond to Contentful’s existing and prospective customers to obtain feedback, help drive the product vision, and find areas of opportunity and innovation. What You Need to be Successful Love to create excellent products and services using TypeScript, Node.js, Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Cloudflare and React Have software development experience including personal projects, internships projects, school projects, or professional projects Have some experience with and/or an interest in distributed systems, with an emphasis on considerations for latency, uptime, availability, scalability, tracing and monitoring, API contracts. Strong communicator with a passion for collaboration, pairing, and mentoring. Interest in AI, thinking about how we can incorporate AI into extending our platform.
